Just to prove.....
I can take images other than macros!! Mind you, it was close - I did get some macro shots today, but.....
OK, so here we are inside the Old Government House slap bang in the middle of Belair National Park. The Rower and I became Friends of Old Government House today, and will go on the roster to take around guided tours. Such fun.
One of the perks is that we can take photos. Strictly on the QT you understand. One of these days I'm going to ask why you can't take photos. I don't use flash, so it's not going to affect the fabric or anything like that. What harm does it do? I really want to know.
Anyway, we were welcomed with open arms. As is the way of most volunteer groups, they have been hit with an aging population, and no new volunteers to take the place of those who are no longer with us.
The house is very small - this is the dining room, there is a huge bedroom, and small dressing room for the Governor, and a small study. And one amazing innovation - an indoor plunge pool fed by two natural springs.
The servants' quarters and kitchen are in a separate 4-room building at the back.
It was only ever used by two Governors between 1860 and 1880, before a much larger house was built at Marble Hill.
Oh, I am going to enjoy this so much - and I can promise more blips from the truly lovely gem of a house.
