To Gorilla Plant
A couple of years ago I was clearing out the garden of a house. There was a spare Buddleia in a pot. I thought little of it at the time and put it down the bottom of our garden.
Despite complete neglect the buddleia plant thrived. It even managed to re-root itself through the holes in the bottom of the pot. By the time midsummer had arrived I noticed that one day every single flower head on the bush had a butterfly to keep it company.
That was too good to waste. So last Thursday the plant was dug up, given a heavy pruning and re-planted with a good dollop of compost.
It is now in a spot where I hope it will continue to give good service to butterflies, and also, I hope, to passing road users.
Oh, and the kind person that originally dumped the pile of rubble and soil upon which it now sits can also derive a certain sense of satisfaction.
