I Don't Believe It !!!!!

........... As Victor Meldrew would say, but this was uttered in amazement rather than frustration. The weather has been gorgeous, beautiful sun and blue sky all day, so I was out in the garden looking for something to blip with a blue sky background. Out of the corner of my eye I detected a fluttering over next doors garden, that disappeared behind the hedge and reappeared at the bottom of my garden. I couldn't see it properly because it was so far away but I watched the blob flutter around a bit and settle in the mahonia bush, so I went to investigate. Imagine my surprise to see this Red Admiral feeding on the open flowers. It was up very high on the piece of bush in the sun so I couldn't get a really good angle on it but if you look carefully you can see a little bit of blue sky in the background too. The butterfly looks in very good condition considering it's out in mid December but I suppose it has to find food when it can.

With seeing this and getting most of my present wrapping done I feel it's been quite a good day, hope your day has been just as good too :-)
