B.A.C.K. to Basics

Vietnam Memorial

Mom and Dad were visiting Bob and Christine in Maryland, and decided to make the trip into Washington, D.C. This was their first trip to D.C. and likewise, their first visit to the Vietnam Memorial.

A very special place for our family, as my Uncle Robert J. Nadeau gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country and is listed on this memorial wall.

I never heard his laugh, saw his smile or felt his embrace, but I feel like I know enough about his character and am proud of the man he was. We've seen his medals, we've read letters from his superiors about the soldier and hero he was.

I am proud to call him my Uncle and will one day shake the hand of the soldier I know only in my mind. Thank you for your service and sacrifice, until we meet again ...
