Swivel

We have a three inch diameter installation wire on drum of 3000 meter length. It is a brand new wire and during the fabrication of a steelwire, a lot of force is used to get the wire in her twisted shape. What comes up must come down, so if you lower this wire 2000 meter, the wires tends to rotate back releasing some of its fabrication forces. That's exactly what we don't want now, rotating is ok, but tranfer this rotation to the mooring attached is not OK. Therefore a swivel is installed between the socket of our wire (seen inside the shackle on the left of this picture) and the rigging of the mooring. If you're talking about max. 200 Tons force however, then it's obvious you're in the race for a Kingsize swivel like you see here.
