Ancient Byways
Despite all the pressures I've taken a down day today and lovely it's been too. I've dithered and dallied while getting a few jobs done around the house and spending some time hanging with the boys. We cleared our cellar of clutter to reveal the space where they first learned their footballing and cricketing skills. I've spent hundreds of hours down their with them kicking and bouncing balls off the bare walls. It brought back a lot of memories. Forrest pointed out the holes in the false ceiling that bear witness to some of his first well timed lofted drives!
I also got out for a run on the moor, catching a very nasty squall just after I left, feeling very cold on the tops as the wind got up and the rain turned momentarily to hail. But I persevered and after it cleared through I caught a bit of sunshine and some wonderful light. I thought I was going to struggle for a decent photograph at first but in the end I was spoiled for choice.
I'm indulging myself in the Strictly final tonight. The talent of the four remaining women is quite a revelation really. To have seen them all grow so much in skill and confidence throughout the series has been wonderful to watch. I have no problem in admitting that it's the most addictive viewing. I'm going to miss this Saturday night treat. OK. Best sign off and see who has won. I hope the vote isn't just about popularity. I have my favourite but I'm not telling!
