Grouse in the Grass

Shortest day of the year - tomorrow the tide will have turned and in a few short months I'll be able to head out in daylight after work has finished :o)

In the meantime I'll contend myself with weekend wanders.

Not too far today - onto the moor for a 30 minute walk in between other things that needed doing.

There were a couple of grouse who normally herald their presence by flapping away and cackling (laughing?), but the two I spotted let me get quite close while they pecked away.
