Day 2 in Auckland
We treated ourselves to breakfast at the hotel this morning. It was the most lavish feast! There was everything imaginable - even a chocolate fountain and a chef who would make omelettes to your requirements. So, after a five course breakfast, we rolled back to the room and got ready to head into Auckland. We wandered down Queen Street, past the sky tower and to the harbour. We caught a ferry over to Devonport and went for a walk there. The picture is of Cheltenham Beach, which we stumbled on by accident. We went for a paddle and walked along the beach. We then went to the Navy Museum and stopped for a quick drink. We then caught the ferry back to Central Auckland and then headed on to the Auckland Museum. This was an interesting mix of the imperial war museum and the natural history museum in the UK. There was lots of Maori artefacts and information and I could have spent hours there. We headed back to the hotel at about 5 and went for a swim in the pool. We had planned to head out for some dinner and to watch the new hobbit film but jet lag had different ideas and we fell asleep instead
