Rotorua to Napier via Taupo
After another quick dip in the thermal pools, we headed on our way to Napier. We decided to stop off at Haku Falls (pictured) and Lake Taupo en route. Arrived in Napier and went for a walk about. There was an earthquake in Napier in the 1930s which completely destroyed the town. It was rebuilt in Art Deco style so has some really interesting architecture. We did a couple of geocaches, had a spot of lunch (at somewhere with proper veggie food on the menu, FINALLY!!!!!) stopped off for a few groceries then headed to our campsite. Have to confess that this campsite is a bit of a duff one. It is sandwiched between a busy road and an airport and the majority of pitches are occupied by permanent 'residents'. It feels a bit strange - it reminds me of auntie Beryl's site in Mersea where everyone knows each other but we are parked on the sidelines... Still, off to Wellington tomorrow to meet up with Claire :)
