Awaiting the Arrival

At least it was dry after an awful night today. Mum and I went to a Garden Centre at Ditchling and had lunch. We had to get an item for a neighbour to give as a present as he has just had a minor operation and hasn't been able to go out yet. Independent Garden Centres are becooming rarer as the big chains are gobbling them up and this one has also been taken over sadly we discovered on arrival.
On the return we stopped at the church of St John The Baptist, Clayton for today's picture. This is a Saxon church, situated under the South Downs and under the windmills mentioned earlier this month. It is famous for it's medieval wall paintings which cover most of the walls of the nave. The crib is in a niche in the wall by the Chancel Arch and the Shepherds, Animals and the Three Wise Men are patiently awaiting the arrival of Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus.
