Road closed
This sign sums up our day.
It started with Jacob poking Henny up the nose with the metal prongs of a comb. To her credit she didnt snarl or snap, just did a huge sneeze and ran straight to me, pulling strange faces and rubbing her nose.
We set off in good time and Jacob soon fell asleep, but we were surprised to see snow on the ground within an hour north of Edinburgh. By the time we stopped at Bruar it was like a blizzard.
Within 10 minutes of leaving Bruar we were in a non moving traffic jam. It occasionally moved slowly, but it wasn't until over two hours later that the snow gates were opened and we crawled past this sign. To pass the time we sang along to our new Song Circle cd, watched tractors and snow ploughs trundle past, and even changed a very dirty nappy amongst all the bags!
When we eventually got going, the snow was coming down and the traffic was slow. There were a few other hold ups for stuck lorries, but over 7 hours after leaving Edinburgh we made it to Balintore.
Jacob said hello to his great granny and had his dinner then we made the final leg to our cottage. A hot aga, chocolates, and a bottle of wine waiting for us made the drive worth it! Christmas starts here.
