HaBee Christmas

Grandson Elliot (5) on his visit in October was inspecting the bees for the first time and got stung, the only bee sting we had all year. He was incredibly brave, I think the initial shock of being swatted by Uncle J on the head was greater than the sting.

Today I opened my Magical Christmas Box from Ireland. Amongst all the wonderful things was a drawing from Elliot of me riding Asyr and a swarm of clearly friendly bees following alongside. Wonderful & thank you Elliot.

I had sent a jar of honey in our Christmas box to Ireland, so hope that is a bit of recompense for the sting. MrB told me afterwards (and he had told me from the start) that two things were difficult with bees - if they get in you hair or land on wooly clothing - they cant get a proper foothold and panic and tends to result in a sting. He says if you have a bee in such a situation, simply kill it and don't try to brush it off which just makes it worse. So Uncle J should have found a brick and hammered it down on Elliot's head. No sting and Elliot wouldn't have felt a thing!

Talking of MrB, he & MrsB, amongst other things gave us a pair of mugs (on the left & right of drawing) with a person surrounded by a swarm of something which we take to be bees. Perhaps the person is Elliot?
