Day out
Today we made the trip to see Angie's father and stepmother in Olching and later her mother and stepfather just a km away in the same town.
First stop with Sepp and Jani for a wonderful lunch, Before the humans get anything, Sepp has to present the dogs with their feast meal. This is tradition regardless of the month, day or time, when the dogs appear they get the best possible. If he has been forewarned, he even gets poor Jani to buy and cook meats & joints so that he can find bits & bones for them. Flash has been spoilt rotten by Sepp the last 10 years and just needs to hear "we are going to Papas today" and you can't move him from sitting next to the car.
Knowing my love of Schnitzel this is what the main course was and as always simply fantastic. Afterwards she sat back to relax with the knitting needles in the sitting room while the rest sat around the kitchen table testing Sepp's beer and liqueurs. Jani was looking great today - just a year ago she was in a terrible way having spent months in hospital and frankly things looked very bleak. Now she has the prospect of another grandchild in the next few months and a good reason to keep her knitting needles clicking away. The bottle next to her with a (real) pear in it is "Willys" or more properly "Williams-Christ-Obstbrand" or pear schnapps some may have experienced at apres-ski in the alps. It was one of our presents but probably Jani should stick to the bag of knitting wool we brought her.
Afterwards we went over to Mum's - I dropped off Angie quickly said hello and went for a walk with the dogs so as to dump some of their lunch. It was just starting to get dark, drizzling, wind getting up and around 1°C - horrible and by the time I got back, my shoes were covered in mud and I was freezing. Dumped the dogs in the car (not welcome at Mums, wonder from who Angie got the animal genes?) Inside found Angie's sister Brigitte and niece Andrea also there but sadly they had to leave shortly afterwards. A bit of chatting and christmas biscuits before we headed home in driving sleet & snow. There is now about an 1" and that's probably it - nuisance value only, the next days due to be dry and sunny.
Hope all survived the days and I guess many will now have a long weekend. Hve fun.
