Old man with owl

I love tree carvings, finding them intriguing and artistic when well done.
This is part of a 12feet high carving, recently done, I think, for we have never noticed it before.
It is cut from an oak stump at one of the entrances to Strelley Park, and because of its height - difficult to do full justice.
Beneath the owl in the old man's beard is a door carved with a notice saying "please knock and wait".
