Houses in The Causeway, Horsham

Went in to Horsham today and while Mum was wandering around the shops I went out in search of a picture for today. The Causeway is the premier street in Horsham - the picturesque street of old houses that appears in calendars and paintings etc. It ends at the Parish Church of St Mary (which was locked!). Several houses have blue plaques on them and No 15 towards the right has one and states that it was the home of Squadron Leader Neville Duke DSO OBE DFC**AFC (1922-2007). He was a Test Pilot and was holder of the World Air Speed Record in 1953. Many of the houses in The Causeway are of medieval origin with timber framing concealed behind a later brick facade. The street also contains Horsham Museum which is free entry and contains much about the history of the town and surrounding area and is well worth a visit.
