Life in a Northern Town

On the fifth day of Christmas...

...my true love sent to me....

Sarah and I have been to the Twelve Days of Christmas trail at Bolton Abbey. We go every year and absolutely love it (despite it being the same thing every year, and in fact this year the seven swans were more a-drowning than a-swimming). It did make a change to have glorious weather, as it's usually throwing it down when we go.

Kids write their Christmas wishes and tie them on labels to trees - most were for XBoxes or other very specific (and expensive) gadgets, but this one caught my eye. This one caught Sarah's.

Afterwards we had a lovely drive through the Dales and stopped at Yorkshire's most bizarre tourist attraction, Coldstones Cut. We certainly had perfect weather for it, with the sun low in the sky giving a golden light to the surrounding countryside. Some photos are here if you are interested. Strange and fascinating place.

A drive back past the gold balls at Menwith and then past Lindley Wood reservoir, all very photogenic but I was all out of inspiration.

Home to cook roast gammon and then gaze aimlessly at the TV which will no longer be entertaining us with Breaking Bad. Maybe we will watch all 62 episodes again.....
