A walk in the Botanics for the last afternoon of the year: witch hazel beginning to blossom; buds fattening nicely on the rhododendrons; surprisingly sunny; even more surprisingly noisy (well, unquiet) as the bass beat and amplified music was carried all the way from George St by the breeze.

The squirrels didn't care, though. They were on their usual quest for nibbles.
