Oranges and Lemons

I love the custom of filling a Christmas stocking first of all with an orange in the toe before we add other small gifts. This is partly due to oranges being one of my favourite fruits and mainly the fact that so many other countries join in this particular tradition.

Oranges have always had a role in the festivals and festivities of other cultures too. In the Chinese New Year they symbolise abundance and good fortune.

Lemons on the other hand are in history symbolic of wealth.

So on this last day of 2013 our first 100 blips behind us, I'd like to wish all my fellow blippers a very peaceful and prosperous new year.
