Wednesday: The Aftermath
Well, I have no idea what happened to last night! At 0300 in the morning I was getting slightly beside myself, thinking. 'Is anybody ever going to go home?'. At 0530, we still had 20 people in the house, but they then left en masse at about 0545.
We celebrated Croatian New Year at midnight where it is, apparently, traditional to do the Viennese Waltz. I found a version on Youtube but it turned out to be excessively long and after about 20 minutes of everybody waltzing round the living room, we quickly decided to kill that track. At 0100, we then tuned in to British New Year on BBC - following which we made the tallest darkest person present do the traditional first footer entrance with coal, bread and some money. K. and I have never done this before either but we managed to sell it as a traditional thing that we always do(followed, of course, by Auld Lang Syne) and everyone seemed to love it (more than the Waltz, it has to be said!).
And then before we knew it, it was 0530.........today has been spent mostly clearing up but we did pop out to my boss' house for a mince pie and a cup of tea!
And here's wishing you all the best of years ahead!!
