Alien Heads?

The second day on the Erewash and Solace is heading back towards Trent Lock. Parts of the canal were so covered in Duckweed that it looked like pea soup. I noticed that the turbulence created by the moving boat created this strange pattern.

#2 Daughter has a Royal Python and the patterning down the side of her type is known as "Alien Heads". They are the same shape as this pattern but do have a dark dot in the centre which looks like a single eye.

Not a startling shot but the pattern intrigued me.

The other unusual sightings of the day were a grass snake swimming across just in front of the boat (before we got to the pea soup) and at Trent Lock an 8" goldfish swimming beside the side hatch.
