Bandit on Horseback
This robber fly might look as though it is just sitting there, but that is not the case. There was a gusty wind blowing and it was riding the dying grass blade like a bucking bronco. I was challenged to get a decent shot of it. I like photographing robber flies. They have so many interesting details, as well as all the hairy bits. You can plainly see its yellow haltare, one of a pair, that helps the fly keep its balance, necessary for this wild ride.
