Hopetoun Monument

A visit today to my mother in North Berwick to wish her Happy New Year and to help out with one or two tasks.

On my was back home mid-afternoon to meet up again with our French friends the setting sun cast a light on some of the fields dominated by the 1834 monument to the Earl of Hopetoun.

It is visible for miles around atop Byres Hill and is a regular sight when travelling down the coast.
