Call My Name, or Walk on By Me...
The weather forecast says "Gusts of 65mph" "Torrential Rain".
SEPA announce Flood Warnings for the sea edges of our wee town.
What do me and Tooli do?
Wearing nothing but leggings and jumpers, and completely inappropriate footwear, we jump in to the car at high tide and head for the beach.
Way Hay!!!!
The town was almost gridlocked... Not because of flooding, but because EVERYONE was out looking at the waves.
We decided against the harbour, because we reckoned it would probably be underwater, and headed for the Ballast Banking... We took one look at the people clinging on for dear life at the top and parked the car and ran out.
Within seconds we were soaked through, no rain, just sea water, and we were still round the corner.
The road had been closed at the foot of the banking, and the water was up and over, and foaming up Wood Road.
As we made our way to the footpath on the banking, we yowled in pain as a man stepped off the path, and slid in the marshy ground and skidded down on his bum about 4 ft.
We only went about half way up the banking path - the waves were crashing up and soaking us, and it really was difficult to keep upright.
We laughed as we a passed a lad in a onsie (cat) standing taking photos while his mum and sister shouting instructions from inside a car at the bottom.
We headed round to the South Beach then, and the exhilaration was amazing.
The waves were at the wall - on the beach where Si and I had walked yesterday. The tree which was laying about 40 yards from the wall when we were there, was banging against the wall today.
One little dog was blown out of his collar and just stood there, about 4 ft from his owner stunned.
We wandered along the front behind the toilets and shop - because the water was up to the front and we scrambled up to the War Memorial, and hid behind Britannia as the waves crashed over the wall in front of us.
It really wasn't cold, and if it wasn't for the fact we were drenched and the salt water was stinging my legs... we'd still be there !
