Oh well

During Jools Holland's Hootenanny - this is what we get on English TV on New Year's Eve while our Scottish friends are enjoying roaming in the gloaming with Andy Stewart - a modern pop combo rattled off their version of "Oh well". I'm sure that the cognoscenti who visit this page will be familiar with the original which dates back to 1969 and is the work of Fleetwood Mac.

"Oh well" is also what I said when I spotted that part of my fence has succumbed to the latest storm surge. No big deal in the whole scheme of things; many folk are suffering real difficulties, but it's a pain. Mine is the last of the fences along here to survive - the other three have all been flattened and replaced - so I guess it was my turn.

Friday has arrived; gosh it has taken its time hasn't it? I hope to goodness that the rest of 2014 isn't going to be as brutal! Now that we're sinking into a comfy weekend which is enveloping us like a duvet-fort I think we can start thinking about a glass of wine perhaps?
