Winter

Saw the famous dolphin Winter today at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. I have been wanting to do so for a whole now as I was touched by the story shortly after arriving in FL. Quickly for those unfamiliar, the dolphin was found very young twisted in a crab cage rope around its tale so tightly that it lost circulation and was later removed-but the dolphin learned to swim side to side without a tale but this unusual movement was causing trauma- a prosthetics company worked with the CMA and eventually successfully made a prosthesis for the dolphin!
Now the animal is visited by and is a role model for hundreds of amputees and other trauma victims, as well as children and adults from many countries. A movie was produced in 2011 and filming for a second is taking place currently.
