Omamori - good luck charms

Omamori are the lucky charms or amulets that you find on sale at shrines and temples throughout Japan. Literally meaning “to protect”, these are made of cloth and resemble little pouches. They enclose tiny ofuda, which are paper or wooden blessings boards, they have a specific purpose, such as for health, studies or work, or they are associated with a successful relationship or safe pregnancy.

Amulets are replaced once a year to ward off bad luck from the previous year. It is most common for amulets to be returned on or after New Year. This way you start the New Year with a new omamori.

Depend on the rabbit's foot if you will, but remember it didn't work for the rabbit.
