A leaf too far!
“Let’s go for a walk in the Belair park”, she said. “Not very far.”
Well, she dragged me up hill and down dale this afternoon. We ended up going in at Gate 7, which leads to just about the steepest track in the whole Belair National Park – and I hate it with a passion. Especially with my bad back at the moment. “Oh come on”, she said, “it won’t take long – just to next corner”. And the next. And the next.
Anyway, we ended up at the Lower Waterfall – which is as dry as two dead sticks at the moment.
I did get a bird as well, but it seemed upblippable on account of you can’t really see it all that well, due to twigs and leaves, and I’m told it’s beyond even the might of Photoshop to restore it.
So it was back to the park again to Playford Lake, just before dinner. Here it was like striking gold. We saw kangaroos, Noisy Miners eating from Paladian’s hand, endless ducks and sulphur crested cockatoos and more.
As we were standing on the small jetty, I happened to look up and there above me in the fork of a gum was this lone and battered male koala. He had battle lesions on his left shoulder and back, no doubt from a fight with another male, and was trying to reach some very lush looking gum leaves.
You need to view LARGE to see teeth and claws.
He did manage to pull a small branch down and grab the best few leaves. But he could not quite reach a much better branch of leaves that was a bit too far away to reach.
