Harpoon fishing

Visited Cronulla Beach today- and others later! The weather was gloriously hot today. The scenery was spectacular with wonderful rock formations running into the sea.

I was mesmerised by several 'fisherman' who seemed to enjoy the mixture of snorkelling and then harpooning the fish. They would then stager back to the rocks to finish off their 'kill'. I chose to turn away whilst they chopped off the head and then gutted them on the rocks!

This poor guy came back empty handed but put a real show on - of how to walk out of the sea, with harpoon in hand whilst still wearing the biggest flippers I've ever seen.

I could of stayed there all day watching this, but the visit to Cronulla beach was rounded off nicely when a Great Cormorant joined the fishermen in the sea, but I didn't see him catch anything either.

Whilst packing up with the others in the party , a Galah joined us on the grassy area behind the beach. Such a beautiful pink parrot!

Then off to Bondi Beach for a stroll in the evening, I could never tier of the diversity of this area and the endless surfers hustling for that 'great rip'.

The evening was finished off with another beach, this time at Coogee and a splendid Mexican meal.

Exhausted again ! but in a great way and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
