Good-bye Cardiff and Mum
Left Cardiff today to travel to Devon for a few days. We went to visit mum first in the Nursing Home and, as always, this was a much more positive experience than one would expect. The Home has a coffee shop with real coffee and nice cakes in the foyer (all free) so visits are normalised. My mother is the sort of person who rarely complains but she does seem relatively settled and happy despite being permanently disabled following her stroke.
The drive to Devon was so easy, relatively little traffic and, believe it or not, the weather was mild and sunny! Arrived in the dark, at 5 p.m. Ken walked the dogs while I stocked up with comforting foods from the local Co-op. Then curled up in the lovely warm sitting room to watch bad Saturday night television. Lovely.
