Get the Snitch or die trying
"Get the Snitch or die trying." —Oliver Wood to team Seeker, Harry Potter
The Golden Snitch, sometimes called simply the Snitch, is the third ball used in Quidditch. It is a small gold-coloured sphere with silver wings and is about the size of a walnut. It flies around the Quidditch field at high speeds, sometimes pausing and hovering in place. The Seeker's goal is to catch the Snitch before the other team's seeker, which is worth one-hundred and fifty points. The game can only end when the Snitch has been caught, or by mutual agreement of the two teams' Captains; the latter is very rare, however, as one team would have to lose.
Graham bought me this wonderful necklace for Christmas. As a fan of Harry Potter, it proved a real hit! (I was also given Hermione's Wand, and a Hedwig Puppet - can you see a theme developing here?) It's actually a watch - a nifty little button press and bingo, an exquisite dial is revealed!
I had many wonderful gifts for Christmas - but this mere "stocking-filler" is an absolute favourite!
