A Big Day

We had two friends come for lunch today. One from the country and the other here on holidays from Sydney.

The day started very gloomily with the city blanketed in thick smoke that arrived overnight from a huge bushfire down in the south west!

We had planned to sit out on the patio for lunch and fortunately the wind changed direction just before midday and blew all the choking smoke away!

Lunch turned into afternoon tea which turned almost into dinner but no one wanted anything more to eat (thank goodness)!

I drove our Sydney guest back to his city hotel around 7pm and on the way back home noticed some beautiful black swans in a small lake.

This is the Big Daddy Swan, Mrs Swan and her two teenagers slid away as I arrived at the same time that two people came by with their dogs! Mr Swan hissed madly at the dogs and stretched his neck out straight and the dogs and their owners scuttled away!

Unfortunately the owners got in the way and I couldn't get a good shot of the hissing action!!
