My nephew, the king!
Today we celebrated Epiphany with the family. 6th January is a bank holiday here in Spain.
Traditionally, in Spain, the Three Wise Men bring gifts to all children in the world who have behaved well, and charcoal to those who have behaved badly. It's a bit like Christmas day everywhere else in terms of the excitement of children getting all their presents. At home we always have a family gathering to celebrate it. The tradition is that on Epiphany you eat a cake called "la coca de reis", a circular cake, a bit like a giant doughnut, made of brioche, covered with fruit confit, with a marzipan or cream filling. Inside the cake there is a small king made of ceramic and a dry bean. The one who gets the king, is crowned (my nephew here), and the one who gets the bean has to pay the cake!
We had a great time and a good laugh. I took lots of family photos too! :)
Thanks very much for all your comments yesterday! I hope you all had a good day! :)
