Playdough
The boys have been given a fair bit of shop-bought playdough recently and although part of me (I'm being honest here!) was a bit despondent as I was really looking forward to making a few different colours / flavours of the homemade stuff over Christmas, I've actually been really quite grateful for it. And because I know it's replaceable I've had none of the stress about the boys mixing the colours!
Today has been an odd one, even by our standards.
Kinda depressing to come down this morning and be greeted by a corner full of bikes and shopping bags instead of the happy tree.
The boys have been un-left-alone-able. I've not even been able to just sit in with them, I've had to play (no bad thing, I've been saying I should play more with them). A mad half hour of sorting out the house pack-down, in between feeding the boys with snacks and putting the TV on and breaking up arguments. More playtime, in between trying to fill in a form to send off. And then while Bear slept, Bean decided he wanted to play with the fuzzy felt and the duplo, and when I asked if I could put something on to watch while I finished off making arrangements for the pack-down he said no, he was happy playing. (!) Then he did watch a couple of bits but instead of turning into a tv slump he asked for the playdough, to which Bear yelled "yeah yeah me me me!" and sat at the table patiently while we sorted things out. They played. They watched a bit more tv. The tree has been shredded. The cat was shut outdoors while meat was chopped ready for tea. (He's been let back in, don't worry.) Acceptance form signed, scanned and returned to the removals company. Duplo played with.
Not had a moment to myself, only one near-tantrum from Bean, no crochet done (although I did pick up all the colours I was after this morning after my eye test!), but the boys are happy and we're not stressed.
Not bad, for a strange old day.
