Ed's Blip

A Busy Saturday

After a leisurely breakfast of boiled eggs, tea and toast, we drove into Glasgow for a walk. We had planned a big walk round Glasgow Green, but it was a bit late for that when we got in. So instead, we did a shorter walk included a visit to the calming gardens of the Provand's Lordship, the oldest house in Glasgow (pictured above).

We continued into Merchant city and had lunch in 'Tinderbox', a very smart looking cafe. Their goat's chees and beetroot sandwich was lovely. After lunch we ventured onto busy Buchanan Street to look for some new (winter) clothes for Orla. We got a few nice things, but cut our shopping trip short because it was just too busy a Saturday afternoon.

Then we drove out to Kirkintilloch to go for a swim at the leisure centre. We hadn't been there before, and arrived 15 minutes before the pool reopen for the afternoon. Whilst we waited, Orla got a opportunity to practice walking in the big open spaces in the public area. She managed to walk further than ever before (more than 20 steps), but more importantly she got herself up and carried on each time she fell down.

The pool wasn't as good as our usual pool in Cumbernauld, so we probably won't go back to Kirky. But it is now significant, as the place Orla first showed proper signs of walking.

Catherine and Scott came round in the evening to watch Strictly and the X-Factor.
