A Nose For The Nectar

I got a close up look at Zippy, my little three inch Costa's hummingbird, sticking his beak into that 3 mm port on the feeder today. It was an amazing sight. Suspended in air! No wings!

It was sitting about a foot away from me as I worked on my computer. He has no shame. Now he covets two feeders when they are out there, flying from one to the other, keeping watch.

I have to admit I'm putting it out on the table for my own selfish reasons - to get him closer to me. Not so I can take photos, which I take precious little time doing. But rather to just watch him, smile and enjoy his company.
