Double sided

Friends of mine just bought a penthouse condo. Not only the terrace is spectacular and will soon host a BBQ, the fireplace is double sided! One side opens to the living room, the other side to the sun room. There's only one problem, it's not functional yet!
I also think it needs a complete make over, but that's a question of style.
