Perfect Tree
Back in November last year, I blipped about finding the perfect Christmas Tree branch in Pype Hayes Park. Autumn Carpet For the rest of that month, and during most of December, we stored it in the garage (it was simply too big to keep anywhere else!) But once the Christmas decorations were out of the loft, it was time to see if the image I had in my head back in November, could be made into a reality.
First Graham spray painted the branches silver. Once dry, with a minimal sawing, we manoeuvred our *tree* into the bay of the living room. It was a perfect fit, and we wedged it beside the patio doors so it was safe and secure; it almost looked like it grew there!
We didn't want gaudy decorations; we felt this would spoil the natural look of our creations, so, having the patience of the saint that he is, Graham set about creating strings of decorations from potpourri. He hung them delicately, providing both Christmas colour and a welcome berry scent! Some twinklies added later, followed by all the pressies (left by Santa of course) by Christmas Eve our tree was the picture of perfection!
Mom and Dad visited us for Christmas Eve and couldn't help taking this photo with the I-pad. I'm glad they did because it's the only remaining evidence of our home-made tree!
