Horsham station 2014

Every day on my way home I drive past Horsham station, and every evening I think' I really must take a photograph of that!' well today I succeeded, even if it did mean abandoning my car in the 'drop off only' and risking it for a few shots!
I remember entering this beautiful Art Deco building as a small child, going for 'day out' holidays to Littlehampton, and being thoroughly petrified of the steam trains that still occasionally visited the station.
Horsham Station was built in 1938 by the Southern Railway to the International Modern Style to coincide with the electrification of the line, replacing an earlier building.
Since then the exterior has remained pretty much unchanged, although the inside underwent a major refurbishment in 2011/ 2012, with a new side entrance being constructed where the 'Henfield hire' car hire used to be.
It was Grade 11 listed on Sept 2nd 1996, and features (without a picture) on English Heritages Images of England site.
