Course closed

This is part of a golf course in Carlisle. The River Petteril runs through it as it joins the Eden about ten yards to the left. Normally the former is little more than a muddy brook but now it has expanded somewhat. The flood defences close to here would protect the city even if the water was 10 feet higher. They are impressive and quite unobtrusive.
