Heskey's Tekkers took to the field on a wet but calm floodlit night, to put in their first performance of the season. Proudly wearing the red jersey, they took on other newcomers Woolly FC in what probably won't be described as a 'classic'.

H-ekkers were up against it throughout the first half. On the back foot from the whistle, it was wave after wave of Woolly, & they took to the break down one goals.

A new zeal took a hold of the team in the brief minutes that would be classed as 'half time', & back to the pitch they did march with true Heskey optimism.

H-ekkers put in a much improved performance in the second half, making better play, putting together some really nice passing moves, & eventually crafting together a nice run of play that lead to a tidy finish (Monkey taking the plaudits with the goal).

It was difficult game at times with a greasy surface, making judgement & purchase on the ball a problem. The match finished Woolly FC 5-1 Heskey's Tekkers. We entered the Theatre of Dreams* with high hopes, but unfortunately all we left with was a conselation goal & some achey legs. We emulated England's 5-1 thriller over Germany, but sadly not in the way we'd hoped.

We have much to work on, but we're in good spirits & Heskey's Tekkers will bounce back. And hey, the team before us got thumped 8-0, so that's something right. I think I'll stick to our second from bottom season finish target though, just to be safe.
