if at first you don't succeed

try, try again!

i heard about these frigid weather experiments with bubble solution -- and tried it yesterday but couldn't get it to work. i thought perhaps to wasn't quite cold enough (even though it is freezing!)

this morning i did a little more research and one of the suggestions was to heat up the bubble solution...so i tried that and (along with a little more lot of patience) had some success.

the trick is that you have to get the bubbles to last long enough for them to turn solid - either by capturing them on the bubble wand (I tried that first) or by getting the bubbles to land on a moist surface (I tried that second)

the bubbles can look like cracked glass when they implode. i've posted a few more pics of frozen bubbles on Flickr.
