" Somethings Coming,........ " West Side Story.

Very busy day today, work, food shopping etc. And I have a deadline for my new stained glass project as you can see!

Thank you for the lovely comments on my Quantock Hills blip of yesterday.

So no trips out with Phoebe today as the weather has been very poor again. And having got this far with my new mirror project, I wanted to get the edges on all the 58 pieces of glass ground smooth ready for the next stage.

If you see Stained Glass pieces at a Craft Fayre and think "Gosh that's expensive", it will be because of the cost involved. Not only is the glass expensive but the time it takes to carry out all the different procedures.

The above pieces will now need to be washed and dried. Then I have to go round all the edges with copper tape making 'hospital corners' . Then the tape has to be smoothed off with a special tool. (Have forgotten what it's called).

I'm not very good with jigsaws and its a bit like that trying to fit it all in correctly. You can see the paper template I used and each piece has a number which I then marked on the glass. Most of the taped numbers have come off in the grinding process.

After that in my class on Friday I will use flux and a solder gun to heat it all together. Then it gets a coating in a special chemical which turns the silver flux darker.

So you can see it is a labour of love but I do love creating and this is the only craft I hadn't mastered!

So I can now add this to knitting, dressmaking, silk painting, jewellery creating, pottery or ceramics as they now call it. Have done woodwork but it's a bit too strenuous for me. And I
haven't included gardening or singing!!

So as you can see with running the house and special children, I haven't really got time to go to work.

My diet is going well so far. No alchol through the week, only at weekends. It's hard at meal times, when I have always enjoyed a nice glass of Chardenay but I am determined to lose a few pounds this year.

Hope you have all had a positive Wednesday. Haven't heard from Sis, so she's obviously back on the London trip and tired.
