First day on site doing a "day ride" with the senior rep and supplier rep. Looking to push new products on customers. A lot of it is detective work. Finding out what person is doing where and what product they are currently using. With that info you can devise a strategy as to what potential problems they may have and how you can solve them with yours. "Win-win" selling as supposedly everyone is happy.
Was thrown into the thick of it straight away as we met with the head purchaser of the company who wanted to know why our product would be of use to her scientists. I think I did a good job and this is hopefully how I can develop my niche and be successful as most of the people trying to sell the stuff don't really understand the potential and "values and benefits" technically of the product. I just need to work on my business acumen and sales and communication skills.
