Homecoming
A very low tide gave the opportunity to walk far out towards Spithead to see HMS Illustrious Britain's only working aircraft carrier as she passed by Horse Sand Fort and No Man's Land Fort on the way to her home base at Portsmouth.
The ship had been on operations in the Gulf and was due to return at Christmas but was deployed to the Phillippines to deliver aid to 40,000 people on the outlying islands.
It was a pleasure to walk on the wind free sands in warm sunshine before the clouds gathered ready for some more rain during the afternoon.
