Plan B.
I paid a visit to the old chestnut tree yesterday (it‘s something over 400 years old), the plan was to take a few pictures for the blip. When I came to look at them they weren't sharp, which I found rather disturbing so, there is no posting for yesterday and today I returned to spend a little more time on the task.
My first thoughts had been that the wide angle zoom wasn't up to the task but I soon realised that that the real problem was camera shake. My tripod is not the most robust of models but it has served me quite well and has the advantage of being light; however, the vibration from the shutter is obviously significant. My experience has been that longer exposures are fine, as are shorter ones, it seems that I have just found the weak point with exposures of a little under a second; that's knowledge that can be used next time I visit the tree.
"Plan B" is a detail on the trunk of the old fella, or rather two details. Once again, I can't identify the specie of the fungi, but they do suggest a certain amount of decay - ah well, it comes to us all eventually.
