An Unkindness of Ravens

I decided on an impromptu short break away. With one day's notice and being peak season, our accommodation options were limited, but I found a cabin in a caravan park in Toora, near Wilsons Promontory (just "the Prom" to Victorians). The soft whoop whoop of the wind turbines behind the park was actually quite a soothing sound to go to sleep to...

Toora is a one cow town and the cow left... actually the dairy factory (Bonlac) closed down, leaving a sad looking factory, with a brilliant, huge, papier mache cow head in the empty carpark... I could have blipped that, but it was a very strange sight indeed. Toora is also a significant bird spotting location and we went down to the hide, but it was so windy, there weren't many birds around. (I can see why it's a great location for a wind farm.)

On the way, we drove through Cranbourne and couldn't go through without stopping at the Australian Gardens, the native and very modern part of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Melbourne. I'd love to spend more time there – we wandered around and had lunch. There were lots and lots of honey eaters on the kangaroo paws and this photo isn't brilliant, but I love the colours.
