Glaur, defined in the concise Scot's dictionary as soft, sticky mud; ooze, slime.

To avoid slip sliding on icy paths this morning, His Lordship and I took to the grass on our way to Bruntsfield, only to discover the variation of slip sliding on mud.
This at least offers the possibility of keeling over on grass rather than tarmac, but adds about a lb of glaur to ones's footwear, making for a certain heavy footedness and a trail of mud in places which would benefit from being kept clean.

Despite the chill, the sun shone out of a deep blue sky transforming even the most mundane of flats into buildings as if transported from the south of France.
Who could have guessed that this blip was taken in the centre of Edinburgh at a junction with one of the highest car exhaust pollution in the city.

With HL keeping to his word and cleaning the windows as promised yesterday, we have a sparkling view to the outside, over a sun soaked but glaurie Meadows and can relax in the calm before the storm of the family birthday party tomorrow, when an unknown number of the clan will descend on the Dower House.
