Post-flood clean up

The road isn't yet open although we are all mystified as to why it is taking so long…. it was completely water free early this morning. The road has been swept, the drains cleaned out and we're all back to normal more or less.

The stars: Our postman delivered everyday, even when he needed waders, the local shops took supplies to elderly and disabled residents, we all helped each other out and friends outside the area put up our children when we needed to be sure they could get to school.

The less-than-stellar: people from other areas telling us "I'm so glad I don't live down here" just at the most tense moment (or worse talking about the impact of flooding on house prices!), drivers going too fast and soaking passers-by, and the big businesses on Botley Road that put up mean-minded messages threatening to tow away cars left on their land.

Overall, good won over bad, the sun is shining, this is still a fabulous place to live.
