Party Girls

New Years eve. Spent the day in the flat getting ready for the nights entertainment. Managed to watch Star Wars while J had a bit of a sleep along with Flip Top.
Girls got ready to go out and looked fabulous. L was in her posh Vivian Westwood frock she got last year. Headed up to the Whisky Society in a cab. Arrived to find the doors shut but managed to get inside and find a glass of champagne. Great picture of the girls before the night got too messy.
Met up with fellow blipped RD and his girlfriend before going down for dinner, and what a dinner it was.

Saffron and leek veloute, smoked haddock and poached quail egg. Accompanied with a glass of Gruner Veltliner, Loimer, Kamptal 2010 or a 16 year old Glenfarclas.

Pheasant and foie gras terrine, Brioche and crab apple jelly. Accompanied with Pineau des Charentes, Mery or 22 year old glen Grant

Roast hand dived scallops, Vadouvan spice. Accompanied with Moet et Chandon, Vintage 2004 or 13 year old Highland Park

Venison loin, with beetroot and plum, crispy potato terrine. Accompanied with Zinfandel Knotty vines, Rodney Strong 2010 or 37 year old Glenglassaugh

Passion fruit curd, hibiscus and yoghurt. Accompanied with Vin Santo del Chianti Ruffina, Selvapiana or 10 year old Balmenach

The girls then had Clootie dumpling, hibiscus yoghurt with a glass of Clootie Dumpling, special Christmas beer from Orkney for Flip Top and Sauterness, chateau Laville, Bordeaux, 2007 for J.

I had the Chocolate cake with cherry sorbet with 'Dulce' Monastrell DO Yecla, Bodegas Castano 2008.

Scottish cheeses, Isle of Mull cheddar, Strathdon blue & Bishop Kennedy. Accompanied with Quinta de ventozelo, 10 year Tawny port or 18 year old Laphroaig.

Flip Top was feeling tired we headed home so the girls could open up a bottle of Bollie and see the fireworks from the bedroom window.
Sat down to watch the rest of Joules Holland's TV show while we waited for RD and his girlfriend to come over from the society. Finally gave up at 4am and left the others to it.
