What's happened to me . . . . . .?

' I am a camera with its shutter open, quite passive, recording, not thinking'-----is the opening sentence of novel "Goodbye to Berlin" by a guy called Isherwood which in turn became the musical "Cabaret" starring Liza Minnelli in the 1972 film.
So what's that got to do with me? Nothing! - Except that the sentence comes to mind when I'm a blipper on the prowl - The camera is my eye and my eye is the camera.
So keep your eyes closed you might say!
